The System

From a systems point of view, capitalism generally works better than most other forms of government so long as the proper checks and balances are in place. Over the past 40 years many of the checks and balances that were in place have been eroded in the name of meeting global competition by persons who believe that unfettered capitalism should be the primary focus for the nation, and not the well-being of the nation’s citizens.

Globalization is here—corporations, governments, and citizens need to adjust to the fact. We cannot return to simpler times, the genie is out of the bottle.  But we can examine how we practice capitalism and restore enough of the checks and balances to reclaim capitalism for the middle-class.
